The Open Source Sensing Initiative

Today, the Foresight Institute's VP Chris Peterson launches a new project "with the goal of bringing the benefits of a bottom-up, decentralized approach to sensing for security and environmental purposes."

 

While it may sound liike sci-fi straight out of Batman Begins, the new sensing paradigm called "sousveillance" shows great promise with the onslaught of cheap hardware, especially in mobile technology. 

 

 

Undegrads can help with this effort.  On the Initiative's blog, Peterson details one major contribution by undergrads from UC Berkeley.   If you'd like to get involved, leave a comment here, or contact the Initiative.
